Talks about the fight has been dragging on since Pacquiao won over Diaz late June. But sources close to the boxers who spoke on condition of anonymity has recently leaked that the bout will be officially announced by Golden Boy Promotions within the day.

The fight would match boxing's biggest superstar with the sport's best pound-for-pound fighter today.

Pacquiao (47-3, 35 KOs) has won his last 8 fights dating back to March 2005. His camp has been hesitant to agree to a proposed purse split where De La Hoya gets 70%, insisting that Pacquaio deserves at least 40%.

Six division champion De La Hoya has repeatedly said that his bout on December 6 will be his last.

A deal has been delayed for weeks as the 2 sides disagreed on the percentage of purse.

It won't be easy going for "Pacman" to meet "The Golden Boy" at 147 pounds as De La Hoya has fought at 150 pounds or more in each of his last 9 fights. Pacquiao on the other hand has never fought beyond 135 pounds.

De La Hoya (39-5, 30 KOs) has a 3-3 record in his last 6 fights. Other than the natural weight advantage, he also has the height advantage being at 5'10" while Pacquiao is 5'6".
